William Smoak

William Smoak serves as President and General Manager of Smoak’s Comfort Control. As a second-generation Charleston native, he quite literally grew up in the business. In 1972, his father, Jack Smoak, founded the company. By age 12, William was already working alongside him, learning the trade from the ground up.

William fabricated ductwork, installed equipment, performed maintenance, and ran service calls. He worked in every division of the heating and air conditioning operation. That hands-on experience shaped his standards. He knows exactly what it takes to deliver quality workmanship and a customer-first experience because he’s done the work himself.

He graduated from The Citadel, where he had the unique honor of receiving his diploma from his father, also a Citadel graduate. That moment reflected what the business has always been about — legacy, discipline, and pride in doing things the right way.

William continues to invest in growth. He attends industry conferences, training programs, and other trade association events each year to stay ahead of evolving technology and best practices. His goal is simple: bring the best solutions home to Charleston homeowners.

He married his college sweetheart, also a lifelong Charleston resident, and together they’ve raised two sons who now work in the company, continuing the family tradition.

Outside of work, William enjoys time with family and friends, especially outdoors — hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water with his Boykin Spaniel, Sadie.

For William, this isn’t just a business. It’s family, community, and a responsibility he takes seriously every day.
